THE BOOKING PROCESS

INQUIRY

Reach out to me via my contact page here and I’ll respond within 24 hours with details regarding my availability for your date. I also like to schedule a meet & greet phone or zoom consultation for us to get to know each other.

CONSULTATION

This consultation helps us both determine if we are the best fit for each other for such a momentous day. Most couples don’t realize that they will be spending more time with their photographer than anyone else during their wedding day so it is imperative that I understand your expectations and that you feel comfortable with me in all respects. In this consultation, we get to know one another a bit more. We will discuss photo packages or á la carte options that suit you best. I also like to make sure we are a good fit for each other in terms of style and vision, so we can create the most beautiful images possible.

PROPOSAL & DEPOSIT

After you’ve taken a look at my portfolio, we’ve had a phone or zoom chat, and you’ve reach a point where you’d like to move forward with booking me, awesome! I will then send you a formal proposal - this quote includes a contract, and an invoice for a 50% non-refundable retainer to hold the date and retain my services for your wedding day. If it all looks good to you, you may e-sign the contract, and pay the invoice electronically via debit or credit card or bank transfer directly within my secure client portal. Signing this proposal and paying the invoice officially books me & holds your date! If you’ve booked me for any engagement portrait sessions (engagement, bridal, etc.), we will also schedule those!

PLANNING & SCHEDULING

In the time between paying your retainer and your wedding day, I will check in approximately 30 days before the date to see how wedding planning is going and if I can answer any questions you may have. I will also request a timeline of your day and make suggestions for photography in terms of lighting and best time of the day for gorgeous portraits.

WEDDING DAY!

It's finally here! CARPE THAT DIEM. It is now time to take those planning hats off and just let the day carry you where it may. My sage advice is to just be in the moment - my team and I will be there every step of the way to beautifully document your wedding day - that’s a guarantee!

DELIVER THE PHOTOGRAPHS

In the 6-8 weeks following your wedding, I will be meticulously editing and perfecting your photographs, one by one. When they're ready, I will deliver them to you via a personalized, shareable, online gallery with print-ordering capabilities. You can choose your favorite images, download them, order prints, or share the entire gallery with anyone and everyone you know.

JUST THE FAQs…

Where do you live? Will you travel?

I am currently based in Napa, California and my wonderful clients regularly whisk me away to the far corners of the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern California. As an avid traveler I am also more than happy to trek worldwide to document your destination wedding! If essentials such as hotel, rental car or airfare are needed, I do require that the client be responsible for reimbursement of those travel and lodging costs.

We might want to hire you for our wedding, will you shoot our engagement photos first?

Yes! Many couples want to test the waters to see if I am the best fit for their wedding by first scheduling an engagement photography session. I do offer discounted rates on engagement portraits when chosen as part of a wedding package.

Booking. What are the next steps?

If you have reviewed my portfolio and are considering booking me for your wedding — wonderful! Please fill out my contact form HERE and I will respond with a customized quote & contract for you to review. I do require a phone consultation with each couple before any contracts are signed just so I can get to know you both and make sure that I am the best fit for your wedding. Quotes and contracts can be accepted and signed online and once the contract is signed and deposit is paid we are all set!

How much of a deposit do you require?

Due to the volume of inquiries received, I do require a 50% deposit of the total amount to reserve my services for your wedding day. All deposits are non refundable, however, in the event of a schedule change or cancellation, the paid deposit amount may be reapplied as a credit towards a rescheduled date or as a credit towards a photography service.

Do you work with a second photographer?

Sometimes yes, sometime no. I often leave this decision up to the client, but for larger weddings I will bring a second photographer. For those curious about whether they should hire a second shooter please check out my article on the subject here: Should I hire a second photographer for my wedding?

Will we receive the digital files?

Yes. For most of my packages, clients will receive all digital files fully edited and delivered via a private, password protected gallery that I host for all clients. I do not deliver any unedited, RAW files or b-roll images to clients in order to preserve the integrity of my quality standards.

Will our digital files be watermarked?

No, all digital files delivered to the client will have full printing rights and be free of water markings.

How many photos can we expect to receive?

I typically shoot and deliver approximately 50-75 final images per hour of shooting time. This of course is heavily dependent on wedding size and how dynamic the day is — a private elopement versus a 300 person wedding bash will produce significantly different amounts of photographs. With that said, I certainly strive for quality over quantity in all circumstances.

Do you provide videography?

I currently do not offer videography services. If you are considering hiring a videographer, I’m happy to put you in touch with some very talented individuals working in the San Francisco Bay Area!

What is your contingency plan in case of illness or emergency?

Rest assured I eat my vegetables, take my vitamins and my car is equipped with fancy run-flat tires to assure my safe arrival. With that said, I am a member of the San Francisco City Photography Club, all members of this club are amazing talented photographers whom I would trust to document my own wedding — in case of emergency, I will reach out to club roster to fill my position.

Can you provide references or past clients we can speak with?

Out of respect for the privacy of my clients, I currently do not provide their contact information to potential clients. If you'd like to read reviews about Jack Simpson Photography I welcome you to check out what past clients are saying on Thumbtack, Yelp, and The Knot.
